Whether it's a birthday, graduation or even a wedding, a special
occasion often calls for a special cake. Southwest Kansas residents who
want to learn to create their own decorated cakes can learn from an
expert in an upcoming short course offered by the Garden City Community
College Continuing Education Department.
Cake Decorating, a two-evening course taught by Gloria Marquez, will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 23 and 24.
Marquez is an experienced trainer in the art of cake decorating.
Participants will learn about types of icing for decorating
beautifully baked creations using coloring, shapes and patterns. They
will practice borders and writing techniques, too.
The cost of the course is $75 and includes a beginner's kit.
Information and registration are available at 276-9647, on the web at
www.gcccks.edu/businessandcommunity or on the second floor of the GCCC
Student and Community Services Center. Classes will take place only with
sufficient enrollment. Please register at least one week prior to the
start of class.
