There also still is time to enroll in the Osher Institute Life-long Learning class "The Dust Bowl Revisited." This wonderful learning opportunity is available at no charge to persons 55 and older who are residents of Finney County. The class will be 2 to 4 p.m. June 1, 2 and 3 at Garden City Community College Student & Community Services Center, Room 2025. Coming in the near future is another iris folding class at 2 p.m. June 3. Call 272-3620 to hold your place in class. At 6 p.m. June 4 is the monthly covered dish dinner for the Finney County Senior Citizens Association. This group supports senior activities in Finney County. Join them for dinner and a program featuring the Garden City Police Department drug dog.
Thursday: TOPS meet at 8:30 a.m. The art class meets at 10 a.m. The memorial program starts at 11:30 a.m. Join us for the posting of the colors, a musical program and candle-lighting ceremony, followed by a barbecue luncheon. Reservations for lunch are required. The Ambassador Singers practice at 1 p.m.
Friday: Line dancing starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by STEPS at 10 a.m. Craft Shop check-in/out is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A nurse is available from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Bridge begins at 12:45 p.m.
Saturday: The building is rented. The pool room is open in the afternoon.
Sunday: Duplicate bridge begins at 2 p.m. The building is rented in the afternoon.
Monday: The Senior Center is closed for the Memorial Day holiday.
Tuesday: Pitch is played at 12:45 p.m.
June 2: First day of the Beef Empire Days celebration. Be sure to enjoy all the entertainment the community has to offer. Line dancing starts at 8:30 a.m. STEPS begin at 10 a.m. Completely Unraveled meets at 1 p.m. Pinochle starts at 12:45 p.m. The dance at 7:30 p.m. will feature "The Blue Notes." The cost is $4 per person. Bring finger food for the break.
Lunch is served at noon.
Thursday: Barbecue beef on a bun, creamed peas and potatoes, broccoli salad, cow poke cake.
Friday: Chili on baked potatoes, green beans, cinnamon roll, citrus fruit cup, crackers.
Monday: Senior Center is closed.
Tuesday: Swiss steak with tomatoes and rice, carrots, fruit muffin, strawberry Bavarian cream.
June 2: Roast pork, mashed potatoes with gravy, sunshine gelatin salad, wheat roll, pineapple.
