* Saturday is the 46th annual Finney County Senior Citizens Association Bazaar. Join us between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for crafts, gifts, food, lunch and much more. This annual event is the major fundraiser for this support group of the senior center.
* Do you remember the Dust Bowl days? Did your parents tell you tales of the Dust Bowl? Ken Burns of PBS fame has made a new film titled "The Dust Bowl." An advance copy has been made available and will be shown in two parts on Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 30 and Nov. 1, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The film will be shown at the Finney County Historical Museum. Join us for the film and discussion. Bring your photographs. Hear stories. Taste some Depression-era food.
* Medicare open enrollment began on Monday and will continue until Friday, Dec. 7. This is the only time during the year when most people can change prescription drug plans or advantage plans. The prescription drug program known as Medicare Part D provides coverage for the purchase of prescription oral medication, inhalers, insulin and some topical medications. You choose your insurance plan based on your particular prescription medications. The medicare.gov website is a valuable tool in determining the best plan for you. Go to the website and do your research or call 272-3620 to schedule an appointment with a trained Senior Health Insurance Counselor of Kansas (SHICK). Appointments are required.
It is time to renew your eligibility to ride the Mini Bus in 2013. Be sure to ask the next time you schedule the bus. Don't delay so you don't lose your service!!

This year, 2012, is the 40th anniversary of Meals on Wheels in Garden City. Many thanks to the First Christian Church volunteers and Duane Riley who delivered Meals on Wheels last week.

Thursday, the TOPS Club will meet at 9 a.m., followed by art class at 10 a.m. Gentle exercise begins at 11 a.m. The Ambassador Singers practice at 1 p.m. Life Writing group meets at 1 p.m. The Association Board will meet at 3:15 p.m. Yoga begins at 6:30 p.m.
Friday begins with line dancing at 8:30 a.m. A nurse from St. Catherine Hospital will be here from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Bridge starts at 12:45 p.m. Set-up for the 46th annual bazaar begins at 1:30 p.m.

Tuesday, gentle exercises begin at 11 a.m. Christy Huber with Family Crisis Service will return to speak at 11:45 a.m. on the red flags of elder abuse. Learn how to recognize if someone is being abused. Pitch begins at 12:30 p.m. Bridge begins at 1:15 p.m. Bingo starts at 1:30 p.m.
Oct. 24 has line dancing at 8:30 a.m. Finney County Public Library outreach is from 11 a.m. to noon. Visit with Kara Fitzpatrick about your reading needs. Completely Unraveled meets at 1 p.m. The regular Wednesday night dance begins at 7:30 p.m. Music is provided by "The Blue Notes." The recommended donation is $5.
Lunch is served at noon.

Friday: Chicken and stuffing, stewed tomatoes, wheat roll, tropical fruit.

Tuesday: Swiss steak and tomatoes, baked potato, asparagus, wheat bread, applesauce.
Oct. 24: Oven-fried chicken, potatoes and gravy, cabbage, wheat roll, pudding.
