The Hispanic American Leadership Organization of Garden City Community College will play host to the 26th Annual Hispanic Student Day Sept. 20 at the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex.

The event is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The goal of Hispanic Student Day at GCCC is to empower participating students to continue their education and to make choices that will enhance their opportunities for higher learning and in the job market.

High school juniors and seniors, as well as college students, are invited to GCCC for a day of informative workshops and inspiring entertainment. This year's guest speaker will be Jesse Otero, president of The Otero Corp., motivational speaker and former GCCC student. Otero, with more than 35 years of experience in the field of human services, founded The Otero Corp. in November 2007. The Otero Corp. is a human/social services organization with the intent of providing services to people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
