When Garden City High School senior Taylor Linenberger decided which sport she wanted to pursue for college, it made her decision as to which college to attend much easier.

Linenberger, a 5-11 middle/outside hitter, played for Shandra Sanders her senior season, after having played for two other coaches in her three previous years at GCHS.

Her choice to stay home and play at Garden City Community College was made with the thought in mind that her new coach will also have the last name of Sanders Harvey. He is the husband to Shandra Sanders, and the two spent their first season guiding the local high school and college programs.

"Coach (Shandra) Sanders helped me with my technique a lot this past year," said Linenberger, a member of The Telegram's All-Area first team and a first team all-Western Athletic Conference selection. "I think playing for her husband will be the same kind of coaching. He'll help me have a chance to get to the next level."

A multi-sport athlete at GCHS, Linenberger was a two-year letter-winner in volleyball and helped the Lady Buffs to back-to-back WAC championships and Class 6A sub-state runner-up finishes. She was a two-year letter-winner in basketball and track.

"I think staying here and playing for coach (Harvey) Sanders gives me a unique glimpse of what that will be like," Linenberger said. "I know he's helped them a lot this year."
