The Garden City Public Schools Foundation will distribute dry erase markers to the intermediate centers in the district on Friday.

There will be an assembly held at 8:30 a.m. at Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center and a 9 a.m. assembly at Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center for distribution of the markers, which will be used along with the white boards that the foundation has distributed in recent years.

The idea to provide the dry erase markers came from a number of mini-grant applications that the foundation received from teachers around the district. The foundation provides mini-grants each semester to classroom teachers to enhance instruction.

The foundation offers the opportunity to enhance the learning environment, increase the effectiveness of instruction including co-curricular activities, and to help strengthen and broaden ties between the schools and community. The foundation functions in alliance with the Western Kansas Community Foundation.
