After trailing 3-1 in the early portions of Tuesday night’s Pecos League game at Clint Lightner Stadium, the Garden City Wind used a four-run fifth inning to propel them to a 10-4 victory over the Topeka Trains Robbers.

The victory enabled to Wind to slide back into a .500 record at 15-15 and the teams will match-up again Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Game 3 of a four-game series.

The Train Robbers scored two runs in the top of the first, only to have the Wind answer with one run in the bottom half of the first frame.

Topeka came right back with a single run in the second, and the Wind responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, making it a 3-all game.

Clay Ardeeser got one of the RBIs for the Wind, Scott Torrey added an RBI double and Joey Cecere an RBI single in the second.

In their big fifth inning, the Wind sent 10 batters to the plate, getting RBIs from Ardeeser, a 2-run double by Matt Consigli and an RBI single by Eli Roundtree.

While Topeka added one run in the sixth, the Robbers were unable to muster a rally over the final three innings.

The Wind added single runs in the sixth and seventh to extend their lead. Cecere, Ardeeser and Consigli each had a pair of RBIs. The Wind finished with 14 hits. Manny Colon hit his fifth homer in the win.

Torrey picked up the win on the mound for the Wind. John De Leon absorbed the loss for the Robbers.
