Kitty Evans and Jesse Liggett of Emporia were married July 4, 2012, at the Emporia Presbyterian Church West Campus. Al Areheart officiated at the afternoon ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Skip and Jan Evans of Emporia. She is the granddaughter of Ron Werner and Opal Smith, longtime Garden City residents before moving to Emporia; and the late Wally and Donna Marie Evans of Emporia. The bride's mother grew up in Garden City.

The groom is the son of Richard and Diane Liggett of Reading. He is the grandson of F.J. Liggett and the late Charles Liggett of Wichita; and the late Clyde and Mollie Hendershot of Wichita.

Matrons of honor were Jenny Gibbs of Leawood; and Monica Duncan and Tricia Evans, both of Emporia.

Groomsmen were Jeremiah Liggett of McPherson; and Randy Burris and Otis Moon, both of Emporia.

Flower girl was Madison Evans of Emporia. Ringbearers were Haley Johnson of Olathe; and Morgan Liggett of McPherson.

Candlelighters were Mandy Gibbs of Leawood; and Amanda Johnson of Olathe.

Serving as ushers were Dan Harder and David Evans, both of Emporia; and Darren Johnson of Olathe.

Organist was Mary Melhorn of Emporia.

The reader was Helena Stormont of Americus. Guestbook attendant was Jody Johnson of Olathe. Program attendant was Rhonda Harder of Emporia.

The ceremony was followed by a reception at the Clint Bowyer Community Building.

The bride is a graduate of Emporia High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in secondary English education from Kansas State University and a master's degree in education from Emporia State University. She is the director of purchasing and marketing for EVCO Wholesale Food Corp.

The groom is a graduate of Lebo High School and earned a bachelor's degree in integrated studies from Emporia State University. He is employed by R&L Electric as an electrician.

After a wedding trip to Sandals Negril in Jamaica, the newlyweds are at home in Emporia.
