County to discuss appointments

The Finney County Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the county administrative center, 310 N. Ninth St.
Commissioners will discuss appointments to the Finney County Convention and Visitors Bureau board and term lengths of board members with Kim Inderlied, executive director.
Other items on the agenda include: approval of additional money from the Kansas Department of Correction to community corrections for fiscal year 2014; an update on the Exhibition Building project; appointments to various boards; and two executive sessions concerning non-elected personnel.
YMCA Boot Camp begins Monday
Garden City Family YMCA will start Session 1 of Boot Camp on Monday. The class is a high-intensity, total body workout taught by Susan Dempsey, a NETA certified instructor; and Ivan Gonzales, an ANSI Crossfit Level 1 coach who spent four years in the Marine Corps.
The class will meet from 5:45 to 6:45 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday for four weeks. The cost is $30 for members and $60 for program participants.

Registration ends Tuesday for programs
Garden City Family YMCA has several upcoming aquatics programs kicking off this month. Deadline to register is Tuesday.
"Gym & Swim" starts Jan. 14. Youth age 3 to 5 will enjoy structured activities for 25 minutes in the gym and pool from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday for three weeks The program costs $25 for members and $50 for program participants.
"Y Splash" is a free event consisting of six sessions of swim lessons for youth age 3 to 14. Session 5 will be Monday to Thursday. Times are 5:30 to 6 p.m. for ages 3 to 5 and 6 to 6:45 p.m. for ages 6 to 14.
New sessions of all swim lessons will begin Jan. 13. This is a program for all ages, beginning with parent/tot level and going through age 16. Fees are $20 (free/reduced lunch scholarship), $26 member rate and $52 program participant rate.
